Did you ever wonder if you really need a facial cleanser cream?
Why not save a couple of bucks and just use soap on your face? Well, if you have ever tried it for a few weeks you know the answer.
Soap is very drying.
Dermatologists do not recommend the use of soap on the face. Soap is fine on the rest of your body. It is simply not recommended for your face due to the harsh detergents, fragrances, and deodorant properties most soaps contain.
Facial cleaners are specially formulated for the delicate skin on your face. They usually have a low pH, that is more acidic and will not upset your skin's unique acid coating.
Soaps, on the other hand, have a high pH and are more alkaline. High alkaline products will irritate your skin.
If you have dry skin it is even more important that you use a facial cleanser cream instead of soap to remove your cosmetics. A cream is especially good for dry skin because it is formulated to help restore a natural moisture balance.
Another thing you should always check your facial cleansers for is fragrance. Be sure they are 100% fragrance-free, as most facial skin types are sensitive to fragrance additives. Almost all bars of soap contain some sort of artificial fragrance.
There are some mild soap-free cleansing bars manufactured for use on your face. These bars do have a low pH and are gentle on your skin. However, facial cleansing bars are usually so mild they may not remove the oil build up from an oily complexion.
All facial cleansing creams are mild but still have the cleaning action needed to remove facial oil from oily skin. But, unlike soap, their superior cleaning properties will not dry out sensitive or aging skin.
They really are the perfect cleaning tool for any skin type and far superior to soap.
These products are tested for skin irritancy and allergies. If you have sensitive skin it will probably be on your face, or neck. Soap will irritate these areas.
Facial cleaners should also be non-comedogenic. Although you do want them to moisturize, you do not want problems if you have oily skin.
Why use facial cleanser creams instead of soap?
Because they are formulated especially for your face.
They are made for all skin types.
They not only clean but nourish your skin.
Soap is for the rest of your body, be good to yourself and use something special on your face.
