Why Buy a Makeup Artist Kit?

There is probably nothing that will boost a woman's confidence more than when she's happy with her appearance. A woman that is able to highlight her best features will always have the recognizable glow of self confidence. Using a good makeup artist kit is one of the easiest ways to look your best.

A makeup artist kit will supply you with a palette of colors that's perfect for both your eye color and your skin tone. There are many options available when buying these kits so it helps to know what to look for so you can choose the perfect kit for your needs.

There first thing you need to think about is your budget. You can buy a budget kit for about $25.00 at nearly any shopping mall or neighborhood drug store. If your budget allows it you can select a high end kit that will cost upwards of $75.00. When thinking about spending that kind of money, you need to remember that these kits last a long time and should be considered as an investment.

You can save money on a makeup artist kit if you check your area discount stores and websites that may be selling last seasons kits at a discounted price. This is a great way to good quality products at reduced prices. There is nothing wrong with these kits, the stores just need to make room on their shelves for the upcoming seasons colors. You can also save some money by choosing kits that are smaller in size. Of course, you won't have as many choices when applying your makeup, but the savings can be significant.

The idea behind applying makeup is to enhance your beauty, not cover it up. Choose a kit that complements your complexion and skin tone in order to blend naturally. Choose shades of pale pink and peach for lighter complexions and browns or blues for darker skin tones. This will allow you face to be noticed rather than just your makeup. People with sensitive skin types can choose hypoallergenic products or those made with organic ingredients.

If you are planning on buying a kit from a store near your home, go to the counter to try the cosmetics before you buy them. Most cosmetic counters supply samples that you can try at home as well. The companies try to do all they can to ensure that their customers are satisfied with their selections.

Keep these tips in mind when choosing a makeup artist kit so you can make an investment in products that will give you an immaculate look.

Professional Makeup Brushes

Professional makeup brushes are very different to lower quality brands. Granted, there will be a noticeable price difference, but cheaper brushes, which usually have synthetic bristles, will break easily and are more likely to cause irritation to a sensitive skin. Anyone looking for a long lasting and all-round better quality brush will be more inclined to buy a professional make up brush, which will mostly have goat, squirrel or sable hair. The variation in brushes is much greater when buying higher quality brushes as there are a number of different sizes and shapes targeted to the makeup artist.

There are several types of makeup brushes available, and a professional brush set should always have at least the following:

1. Foundation Brush- The foundation brush is a soft haired U-shaped brush which is usually quite large, allowing for quick and easy coverage. Some makeup artists prefer to use wedge sponges for application but this choice is entirely up to the individual.

2. Powder Brush- This brush is best used in natural bristles and sets the foundation. The powder brush is a large soft brush which sweeps across the whole face. It will have a rounded end making it easier to cover the curves of the face.

3. Blusher Brush- Similar to the powder brush, soft natural bristles will achieve best results. The blusher
brush is a fraction smaller than the powder brush allowing the artist to sweep controlled amounts of colour across the cheeks.

4. Concealer Brush- The concealer brush is mostly made from synthetic hair making it a slightly harder brush. It is a small rounded brush which is used to apply concealer to any blemishes or red areas of the face. Because it is a smaller brush, it is easy to reach any areas that need covering e.g., corner of nose.

5. Applicator Brush- The applicator brush is available in synthetic or natural hair and can be found in a number of sizes. Used for applying eye shadow, the size of the brush used is dependent on the makeup being done. It is recommended to have a smaller and a larger applicator brush.

6. Blending Brush- The blending brush is crucial in a brush set as its natural bristles eliminate any hard lines created from the applicator brush. Usually a lot softer and rounder than the applicator brush, the blending brush makes it easy to move the eye makeup to create a desired effect e.g., the smoky eye.

7. Angle Brush- The angled brush is mostly used for two purposes - to line the eyes or fill in the eyebrows. Available mostly in synthetic hair, the angle brush is a lot harder than the other brushes and is shaped at a slanted angle. It is ideal for hard-to-reach corners and thin areas of the eyebrow.

8. Lipstick Brush- The lipstick brush is available with synthetic and natural bristles making it slightly harder and therefore easier to line the mouth. It is a small V-shaped brush which can be used to both line the edges of the lips and fill them in with colour.

When using brushes it is important to remember to clean them on a regular basis. This means that they will last longer and destroys any bacteria build up. Brushes can be cleaned using an isopropyl alcohol based brush cleaner. Professionals should clean brushes between each use and others are advised to clean their brushes at least once every 3 months.

It is not necessary to pay top prices for a set of high quality natural bristle brushes. Brushes will need to be replaced periodically and can be ordered separately to add to your brush set. In order to protect your brushes, it is advised to keep them in a case where they cannot be damaged. This also makes it easier to carry and organise your brushes while working.

Other essential items in a makeup kit include wedge sponges, Q tips, makeup cleansers and of course, your makeup!

Using the Right Makeup Brushes for a Professional Salon Look

Right makeup brush for foundation and powders is just as important as the foundation makeup itself. New makeup brushes should be washed before using to remove any leftover residue, excess dye and loose hairs from the manufacturing process. A powder blush is the largest brush you should have in collection. This brush is used to set the finishing powder onto your face and help soften your foundation. If you have never tried a professional makeup brush with your minerals, you will be amazed at the difference it will make. Eye-shadow brushes are designed to give you just the right amount of color to the lid without looking like. A great thing about an eye-shadow brush is that it can easily help to blend more than one eye shadow without leaving behind lines.

After your brushes have a good bath, brush them off a little on a clean paper towel and lay them to dry on their side on a paper towel or a regular towel. It is also a good idea to reshape the brush at this point in time to prevent splaying. If you have a steady enough hand, eyeliner brushes are great for softening pencil lines. The brush is a wide; flat shaped that can be used wet or dry. For even coverage lip brushes are generally the smallest of makeup brushes and are designed to line the inside of your lips for even coverage. Lastly, let brushes dry completely before using. Dry time will depend on size and brush density. Keeping your brushes in good condition by washing frequently will provide you with years of beautiful makeup application.

Various Makeup Brushes

1. A foundation brush has a flat shape and long bristles.

2. Choosing the right brushes does not have to be a tricky process.

3. Eyeliner brushes to apply liquid eye shadow or to blend eye shadow around the eyes for a smoky.

4. Powder brush is used to dust loose powder over your face, setting your makeup and eliminating any shine.

5. Eye-shadow brushes are designed to give you just the right amount of color to the lid without looking like you just caked it on there.

Bridal Beauty Secrets - Bridal Makeup Tips - Makeup and Hairstyle

Every bride deserves to be the very special lady of the day and look her best. The hairdo, the makeup, the bridal trousseau and how the bride conducts herself is the focus of everybody's attention on this day and you will certainly feel much more comfortable, if you have already done the dress rehearsal first . People say that the bride is the center of a wedding's attention. When someone is watching you, you always want to look your best. With the aid of makeup artists, your bridal makeup can be the perfect one. Forwards are some tips for a durable and good looking makeup. It's reported that nothing compares with a blushing bride.

Where to Begin…

The first thing to get right is your skin and eyebrows…I would recommend a series of facials in the run up to your wedding (that is if you don’t already have regular facials) Start a few months before as it is common for your skin to break out and get worse before it gets better after a facial if you haven’t had one for a long time. (Something to do with getting all the impurities out) Treat yourself to one a month for 3 months before the big day…your last one at least a few days before your wedding, to give your skin time to settle down) Eyebrows should be shaped the day before if possible.

Bridal Makeup Tips

Bridal make up includes dressing up your face, eyes and hair for the special day.

* Before applying foundation, use a gel or a primer. This helps your wedding make up stay for the whole day.

* Use tinted foundation in different colors to reflect the shaded and highlighted areas.

* Trim your brows properly and shape your eyes with eyeliner.

* Go in for false lashes to add the dramatic look to the eyes.

For a resistant blushing, a powder-based blush is recommended.

In the day of the wedding, you should not apply any makeup to your brows. Anyway, it is recommended to apply the eye color and a neutral shadow after putting on shadow primer. This tip can make your bridal makeup look more natural. For brightening a little your eyelids, use an eye shadow base. After that, apply two layers of waterproof mascara, having few seconds pause between, to avoid eventually incidents.

Your lips are also very important. Take into account that you will kiss a lot of people. So you should use a very resistant lipstick. Moreover, it has to fit eye and hair color, same as the lip liner. You should always outline your lips first and then fill them with color. For a longer durability, use balm, lacquer or primer and apply the lipstick with a lip brush. You should apply two layers, for resistance.

To conclude, your beauty routine make a quick check of your face and powder before you leave for the ceremony. If you can have your bridal makeup professionally applied, go for it and save stress. Besides, the difference in front of the camera will be startling, speaking good of you for the years to come.

Wedding Makeup That Lasts

On your big day, you want your wedding makeup to last. Not only that, but you want to look stunning in your photographs. In order to insure that your makeup will last as long as possible, it may be best to hire a professional to take care of it. However, here is some advice to keep in mind even if you do hire a makeup artist.

Use a makeup base. Several cosmetic companies offer products that go on under your eye makeup or lipstick that help your makeup last. Eye makeup base provides a layer that your eyeshadow and eyeliner can adhere to. This prevents creasing and helps the colour stay on longer. They offer similar products for lipstick. However, try to find a lipstick base that is also moisturizing. Some products contain ingredients that dry the lips out. You'll need your lips to stay nice and moist so you can smile all day.

Get rid of extra shine. A shiny face looks even worse in photographs, especially if the photographer uses a flash. After washing your face, apply an oil controlling product. After that absorbs, apply a thin layer of loose powder. Apply foundation and the rest of your makeup as usual. Follow up with another thin layer of loose powder. Carry some pressed powder with you so you can control any shine as the day progresses.

Lasting lipstick. One of the first things to fade is your lipstick. Follow these tips that will help your lipstick last. First, apply a moisturizing lip base. Then, apply lip liner in a shade that is a little darker than your lipstick. Use a soft pencil. Fill the lips in with the pencil. Apply one coat of lipstick and blot gently. Apply another coat of lipstick but this time do not blot. Press a thin layer of facial tissue gently to your lips. Using a large brush, apply a thin layer of pressed powder to the tissue. The tissue acts as a screen, letting in only a small amount of powder. The powder helps the lipstick set and keeps it on longer.

Pack a makeup bag. No matter how hard you try to create a lasting look, you still may need to do some minor touch ups throughout the day. Pack pressed powder, lipstick, mascara, and eyeshadow just in case your colour needs a boost.

Wedding Day Makeup and Beauty Regime

Whether you are hiring a professional makeup artist or applying your own wedding makeup there are a few things to consider. Your make up and wedding day glow is a culmination of many factors.

First of all you should have beauty regime weeks prior to the wedding day. Sun baking is a 'no, no' a few weeks prior to the wedding. The one thing you don't want to have is distracting unsightly tan lines or heaven forbid sunburn and be peeling on your day. If you want to appear tanned on the day the safest way to go is a spray tan.

You may want to consult a professional beautician and book in for a facial at least a week before the wedding. You need to have it at least a week before to avoid any breakouts. Any closer to the wedding day might be too risky. A couple of days before the wedding ensure you are waxed, manicured and pedicured. Don't forget these fine details which will assist you in looking spectacular.

It is essential you get a good night sleep before your wedding day. You want to look beautiful and rejuvenated. Weddings can be stressful and to keep relaxed you may want to get invest in weekly massages.

If you are booking a makeup artist for the day, ensure you have a makeup trial at least one month prior to the wedding. A makeup artist should be able to recommend the appropriate colour palette for your skin tone. Warm colour palettes of plum, cream, and taupe complement brunettes and olive skin. Whilst Blue-grey, teal, white, pink and lavender really suit cool blondes. Red heads can choose from terracotta, peach, moss-green and grey shades which look great. You may want to provide the wedding makeup artist with magazine cut outs of makeup you like along with your wedding dress swatches and swatches from the bridesmaid's. You wedding day makeup should complement the gowns and flowers. Remember your makeup should look a little more glamorous than your natural makeup to stand out in photos.

Applying your own wedding makeup can be tricky. Foundations with yellow undertones look best in photographs. For a warm natural glow use a little bronzing powder on your forehead, cheeks and nose. This will make you appear sun kissed. When applying blush, the more the better. You have to remember that the makeup needs to last throughout the day and for the photographs. With the time restraints it is unlike you'll have many opportunities to touch up.

When it comes to your eyes shadow, choose soft colours that keep it as natural looking as possible. You may want to consider fake eyelashes. They work wonders in extending the length and size of your eyes. The Smokey eye adds a touch of glamour if you can pull it off.

Your lips will depend on your eye makeup. If you choose soft understated eye shadows, you may want to choose a darker richer lipstick. For Smokey eyes a lighter lipstick will complete the look and keep the emphasis on the eyes.

So whether you are doing your make up your self or hiring an expert be sure to follow a beauty regime to make you glow and sparkle on the most important day of your life. Your wedding day!

How To Do Your Own Wedding Makeup

You're getting married! What an exciting time for you. At some point during the wedding planning process, you will have to think about your bridal beauty needs. Much attention and care should be taken towards small details when it comes to the bridal make up. A wedding day make up would definitely be very different form the regular days and yet it is essential to remember that it does not spoil the beauty of the bride by heavy application or experimenting on the grand day. The ideal bridal make up would accentuate the bride's beauty and conceal the flaws naturally.

Most people offering this service are fully mobile and will come to your home or wedding venue on the day, which means you can get ready at your leisure and actually enjoy the experience of being pampered just like a princess on your big day. It's generally a good idea to organise a makeup artist well in advance of the actual day. Most established artists will be in demand during the wedding season so booking as early as possible is an absolute must.

For the true romantic, nothing beats a blushing bride in ravishing pink. Pink lips and cheeks give a young, fresh look while being soft and subtle. But beware of bubblegum or Barbie pinks and anything that is matte in color, it will make you look too plastic. You want to look like yourself but with just a little more "oomph. Fair skinned brides look good in rosy pinks, honey toned brides look good in coral pinks with a gold undertone and darker skinned brides look good in berry rich shades.

Every bride should use foundation to some degree. Foundation and concealer are the most important aspect to looking good in photographs. Even the tiniest blemishes can show up in your photographs. Perfect for hiding minor flaws and covering little blemishes, a good quality concealer is essential on your wedding day. For under the eyes use a light specialist concealer and for spots and blemishes use a slightly heavier version. For perfect results use a little moisturiser first and apply the concealer with a soft brush until you achieve the perfect look.

Feel free to shine on your wedding day, as long as it isn't with your face! Ask your maid of honor to carry oil blotting tissues with her, and slip you one when she thinks you need it. This way, you can have a great time at your reception without worrying about your makeup! Make-up with a shimmer or added luminiser is great for everyday use but not your wedding. Whenever there is going to flash photography you want to avoid as much shine as possible. Looking after your skin and getting plenty of exercise should give you all the radiance you need without resorting to synthetic products.

Mac Makeup - Things You May Not Know About Mac Makeup And Cosmetics

By Jennifer L. Robertson

The best makeup on earth is MAC makeup, hands down. Created in 1985 by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, MAC cosmetics were designed to hold up to the most grueling conditions. Ordinary drug store makeup doesn't look good under bright lights, and most of it sweats off or wears off under normal circumstances anyway. The chemists who created MAC cosmetics, however, designed it to hold up to just about any challenge you can throw at it. It's good for all ages, all races and all sexes, which later became the company's motto.

MAC makeup is also a socially conscious brand. There are four social initiative problems that the company currently has in place: MAC Cruelty-Free Beauty, Back to MAC Recycling, MAC Kids Helping Kids and the MAC AIDS Fund. Even though MAC cosmetics was bought out by the Estee Lauder Companies in 1994 and the original founder Frank Angelo died in 1997, the MAC AIDS Fund has been continued by the new owners. The coolest thing about it is that every penny of the sale of the eight products under the Viva Glam name get donated to the charity. This has raised more than $86 million for the charity since 1994.

If you're a makeup artist, you can get 40 percent off of the price of MAC makeup. Other beauty professionals can get a 30 percent discount. The brand is also extremely socially diverse. Spokespeople in the past have included everyone from RuPaul to Linda Evangelista. MAC Beauty Icons have included Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Raquel Welch and Catherine Deneuve. All in all, MAC makeup has done a lot for the industry as well as the community. They perfected makeup and are a great role model for other American companies. It can be said that part of their success is due to their acceptance of all things beautiful, and that's something we can all stand behind.
