Miniature Wedding Cakes

Serving individual miniature wedding cakes to your guests will be surprising, impressive, and delightfully delicious. More and more brides are choosing to offer individual sized dessert but a personal replica of a wedding cake is a rare treat.

A mini wedding cake is very literally a miniature version of your dream cake, it can be circular or square, tiered usually standing at about three inches tall. Every person at the table will be sure to happily comment on your innovation. If you really want a conversation starter, have a larger, but still small wedding cake made for each table.

With mini wedding cake in lieu of a larger, traditional one that is displayed throughout the wedding, you want to think about how best to showcase them until dessert time. They can be tiered to resemble a more traditional cake, placed on a dessert table, or perhaps on sterling or mirrored trays.

Something that is becoming more common is to have a groom's cake as well as a "wedding cake." Have two different types of cake made for your guests. Men can receive a mini cake of red velvet and the woman can fork into some decadent chocolate. Only doing one filling? No problem, take inspiration from the colors in your bouquets and centerpieces and have the frosting decorated with the different types of flowers. A rose cake, a Calla lily cake, and a hydrangea cake-a bouquet of cakes!

You mini cakes can even be a take home gift for your guests. So often people are too full to eat dessert, well now they can have their cake, and eat it too at their leisure. Talk to your baker about having individual cake boxes made with your monogram on them for a personal, delicious, and memorable parting gift.

Cupcake Wedding Cakes - A Wedding Cake With Style

Keep Them Talking for Years with a Cupcake Wedding!

The cake at a wedding is second only to the bride. But, cake is passe; the in thing is a "cupcake wedding cake."

Contrary to how you may imagine, a "cupcake wedding cake" does not consist of a giant cupcake, but rather, of many regular sized cupcakes decorated to create one, "cake." Cupcakes are fun, delicious, and they add a bit of the unexpected to a reception.

Cupcakes are appropriate for almost any wedding a bride and groom may want. If an intimate, gathering of friends and loved ones is your style, cupcakes add an air of ease and simplicity. They also eliminate the mess of cake cutting or hiring a few people to cut the cake.

Is a Cupcake Wedding In Your Future?

Regardless of budget, finding ways to save money on a wedding is universal. Cupcakes are less expensive than a traditional wedding cake. It's not uncommon for a wedding cake to cost hundreds, or even thousands. Save a few hundred on a cupcake "cake," and get yourself an upgraded wedding dress! Normal wedding cakes cost $4-$17 per slice, most cupcakes range from $4-7....even the really fancy ones! Then, there's the option of making them yourself since it's much easier to make a cupcake wedding cake vs a regular wedding cake.

Offer a Montage of Flavor

Regular wedding cakes offer two or three flavors at most. White, yellow and chocolate are popular cake options and white or chocolate frostings are always welcome. But what if you could choose between lemon meringue and devils food cupcakes? Cupcakes are a great way to offer guests a bevy of delicious treats.

How to Get Your Dream Wedding Cake for a Fraction of the Cost

After pouring over hundreds of bridal and wedding magazines, I'm sure you've found a cake or two that you have your heart set on. You may have given up after visiting your local bakery, and they quoted a price that rivals your gown. If you choose to go with cupcakes to feed the masses, you are now able to afford a small, delightful version of your dream cake for your wedding party.

Cupcakes Hold Their Own at Both Intimate Gatherings and Full-Blown Affairs

There are many ways to dress a cupcake. Create an elaborate presentation with your cupcakes or simply place them neatly on a tray. Either way, guests will be delighted.

The Wedding Cake Tree

Wedding cake trees are beautiful edible displays. Cupcakes are arranged in a tree shape, and decorated individually. Once every guest enjoys the "art," they can go choose their favorite!

Wrap Cupcakes in Style

If each cupcake is to be displayed, go for a designer wrapper. Just about any imaginable design is available, and you are sure to find one that fits your wedding perfectly.

Cupcakes as Favors

Almost all weddings offer favors to their attending guests. Why not have a delicious, frosting topped cupcake awaiting them at the reception? Cupcake favor boxes come heart-shaped and allow the small treats to be observed through a clear window. A sure hit!

Do You Love Blue Wedding Cakes?

Perhaps when you were younger, your wedding dream involved a dashingly handsome man holding a tiny blue box from a certain famed jewelry store. You have your dashingly handsome man, but you still need something blue for your wedding-your cake!

If you really want to bring your childhood fantasy to life, you can have a square cake covered in Tiffany's blue fondant and topped with a perfectly edible white bow.

An unexpected pop of color is very popular in wedding design. Wedding gowns with a sash color complementing the wedding party are on the rise. With the ability to color a cake any color your heart desires, be it delicious butter cream or malleable fondant, color it blue, why leave it plain old white? Too blue for you? Have your cake decorated with periwinkle hydrangea or bluebells. You can use a live flower and have your florist create a garden for your cake or have them made of sugar or frosting.

For a chic, modern cake, combine contrasting colors like blue and brown. A rich, dark chocolate cake covered in blue tinted fondant will not only look stunning, but taste delicious. For a more classic look detail your blue cake with white piping.

For a casual, outdoor wedding or a beach side wedding, have a cake filled with blueberries or a blue berry tarts as your cake. It will still keep in your something blue and will be a refreshing treat for your guests. Blueberry season is late July through early August, so if you are going to be married during this time, capitalize on the fresh fruit of the season.

The New Trend in Weddings - Cupcake Wedding Cakes

Remember when you were seven years old and your mom threw a birthday party for you? All your friends gathered around and everybody raved at how delicious those cupcakes were with the little sprinkles on top. That was fine when you're seven but now that you're getting married you may be a little nervous about the new trend in wedding cakes. Many couples are choosing to go with cupcake wedding cakes over the more traditional cake.

These cupcake wedding cakes are a long way away from what you had at your seven year old birthday party. Most of the time they won't have those little confetti sprinkles on top (unless you want them). Often they're going to take on shapes that you may have never thought were possible for cupcake such as stars, squares and even hearts.

Most cupcake wedding cake still take on the traditional form of wedding cake in the use of tiers and layers but, once you get past that the creativity put into these is endless. Because you're often working with over 100 individual cakes you have a lot of options available. Not only are you decorating each cake you're decorating around each cake as well.

One of the fun little additions to using cupcake wedding cakes is the ability to provide a keepsake topper for each guest. Whether you choose to go with a monogram topper or a miniature bride and room, your guests are going to love their little take-home item. You could even provide personalized outer cups for each cupcake with your names and the date embossed on them.

If the bride and groom can't agree on what flavor of cake, that's no longer a problem when you go this route. As a matter of fact, you can provide four, five, or six different flavors of cupcakes. You've got an equally as diverse selection for frostings.

When it comes to decorating around the cupcakes you have a lot of options as well. Some choose to have beautiful soft silk flowing in between each cupcake while others decorate around each cupcake with fresh fruit or flowers. I've even seen some with seashells to create a beach wedding theme.

Once you see a well decorated cupcake wedding cake you'll understand exactly why so many people are going this way. They can be fun, they can be elegant, and they can be as glamorous or casual as you want them to be. One thing is for sure, your guests will walk away remembering those cupcakes just as much as your friends did at your seven year birthday party. It just might be at a little different level.
